About the Role

The Community Partnership Coordinator develops collaborative relationships with area colleges of nursing and other health science programs. This role coordinates and ensures the effective management of health science and nursing students’ clinical experiences, recruits and retains qualified RN instructors and Clinical Instructors, and facilitates meaningful clinical experiences aligned with educational levels. The coordinator also participates in the growth of partnered College of Nursing programs and coordinates community patient educational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures high-quality content for classes and clinical experiences delivered by qualified and proficient Clinical Instructors.
  • Ensures adherence to LMC and partnered nursing programs’ patient care philosophy, standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Collaborates with partnered Colleges’ faculty to design clinical experiences aligned with lecture objectives and student preparation.
  • Ensures clinical students understand and demonstrate compliance with LMC service excellence, policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Maintains appropriate job descriptions for nursing and health science students, RN, and Clinical Instructors.
  • Assesses the performance of Clinical Instructors and develops action plans to monitor progress.
  • Ensures community class content is based on current literature and best practices.
  • Sets and manages goals, objectives, and educational activities aligned with partnered College Nursing Programs and LMC’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Respects program participant privacy and interacts collegially with Clinical Instructors and partnered Colleges of Nursing faculty.
  • Ensures programs and clinical experiences meet the expectations described in the Patient’s Bill of Rights.
  • Attends a minimum of 20 hours of appropriate educational programs for professional development.
  • Provides ongoing performance feedback for Clinical Instructors and serves as a role model for students and instructors.
  • Serves as a resource for nursing students, instructors, and healthcare personnel in acquiring knowledge and skills.
  • Plans for and contributes to the growth and development of nursing students, instructors, and professional colleagues.
  • Acts as a liaison between program participants, Community Education Liaison, Clinical Instructors, RN instructors, leaders of colleges of nursing, and LMC.
  • Coordinates the nurse residency program at least three times yearly, including recruitment, interviews, onboarding, scheduling, and preceptor coordination.
  • Provides feedback during the initial portion of the nurse residency program and follows up with resident cohorts through their first year.
  • Identifies measurable outcomes for each program (nurse residents and clinical nursing students) and facilitates evaluation and revision of programs as needed.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in meeting the needs of program participants, clinical student preceptors, and instructors by adjusting classes or clinical experience dates/times.
  • Maintains instructor and clinical assignments, ensuring qualified instructors for each clinical student experience or patient education class.
  • Onboards nursing instructors and students, ensuring appropriate computer, badge, and EPIC access.
  • Works with Human Resources to maintain a student webpage with current orientation materials for nursing and health science programs.
  • Ensures instructor coverage for all classes and clinical experiences, including developing contingency plans for emergencies.
  • Develops strategies to recruit and retain Clinical and RN Instructors in collaboration with LMC nursing leaders and Human Resources.
  • Provides cost estimates for program needs for the yearly budget and ensures cost-effective budget management.
  • Develops brochures in conjunction with marketing and advertising programs.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates revisions to educational programs and clinical experiences when deficiencies or opportunities for improvement are identified.
  • Provides an appropriate climate for learning and facilitates the adult learning process using teaching and learning theories and technological options.
  • Incorporates creative methods for communicating with program participants, particularly those with specific learning needs (e.g., non-English speaking, hearing impaired, visually impaired).
  • Ensures the smooth operation of the online registration process for patient education programs.
  • Ensures RN Instructors demonstrate effective communication skills when interacting with patients, families, staff, and class participants.
  • Uses outcome measures and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement in educational programs.
  • Leads, coordinates, and participates in the development and implementation of action plans to improve educational programs.
  • Reviews and analyzes feedback from class, instructor, and student experience evaluations to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Facilitates change within LMC’s performance improvement framework and timelines.
  • Leads, coordinates, or participates in designing programs with objective measurements of effectiveness and makes revisions based on outcome data.
  • Communicates outcomes and programmatic revisions to involved staff, community partners, and participants.
  • Contributes to teamwork and creates harmonious, effective, and positive working relationships with LMC, partnered schools, and other area colleges and schools of health sciences.
  • Resolves conflicts and problem-solves while exhibiting telephone courtesy.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 5 years in nursing, with at least 2 years in a leadership position/capacity.
  • Required Certifications/Licensure: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing; current certification in Healthcare Provider CPR.
