About the Role

Bleuler Psychotherapy Center is seeking an experienced and passionate Team Leader for the Community Outreach Mental Health Promotion and Support (COMHPS) Program. This position is ideal for a behavioral health professional or experienced paraprofessional who is committed to expanding access to mental health support, promoting community wellness, and empowering underserved populations throughout New York City. As the Team Leader, you will supervise a team of six Community Wellness Specialists while supporting outreach, engagement, mental health promotion, assessment, referral, and treatment-adjacent services. You will play a critical role in helping New Yorkers with subclinical mental health needs access community-based resources that strengthen wellness, resilience, and recovery. This is a grant-funded temporary position with an anticipated duration of 12 months, subject to annual contract renewal.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and leadership to a team of six Community Wellness Specialists
• Conduct weekly individual supervision meetings with each Community Wellness Specialist
• Support and oversee assessments for individuals who may require traditional behavioral health treatment services
• Collaborate with the Senior Director of Community Partnerships & Regulatory Affairs to develop and implement effective outreach and engagement strategies
• Represent the COMHPS program through public speaking, community presentations, school meetings, and local events
• Facilitate weekly team meetings focused on collaboration, wellness, self-care, and stress management practices
• Provide counseling, emotional support, outreach, psychoeducation, and referral services to individuals, families, and groups both virtually and in person
• Network and collaborate with community organizations, providers, faith-based institutions, and local stakeholders
• Present educational workshops and psychoeducational programming on various behavioral health topics
• Attend a minimum of two community events each month
• Maintain daily and monthly outreach logs and documentation required by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH)
• Support Community Wellness Specialists in facilitating workshops, outreach activities, counseling services, and educational initiatives
• Provide Treatment Adjacent Services at Bleuler Psychotherapy Center’s Forest Hills and Jackson Heights locations
• Manage assigned community engagement sites and ensure timely follow-up and accurate data collection
• Build strong relationships with community-based organizations, local agencies, and service providers
• Escalate complex cases appropriately to leadership for guidance and intervention
• Participate in meetings and trainings required by BPC, OMH, and DOHMH
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field
• Three or more years of experience working in behavioral health or community mental health settings
• Extensive knowledge of community mental health resources and support systems
• Working knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care principles and practices
• Strong leadership, supervisory, and conflict-resolution skills
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment
• Experience collaborating with providers and service systems across multiple sectors
• Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills
• Ability to engage individuals with professionalism, empathy, and cultural sensitivity
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, privacy, and professional standards
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard workplace technologies
• Demonstrated cultural competence and commitment to serving diverse communities

Additional Requirements

• Must be a New York City resident
• Must successfully complete New York State Justice Center fingerprinting and Criminal History Records clearance requirements
• Regular onsite presence is required at designated Bleuler Psychotherapy Center locations, with a minimum of three (3) onsite days per week based on operational needs
• Ability to travel throughout the community to support outreach initiatives, partnerships, and events
