Community Outreach and Engagement Specialist 3

About the role

The Nuclear Waste Program (NWP) within the Department of Ecology is seeking a Community Outreach and Engagement Specialist 3 position. This role is based in the Richland Field Office (RFO) in Richland, WA. Upon hire, you must reside within a commutable distance from the duty station.

Responsibilities

• Support and conduct outreach, education, and public involvement with communities impacted by Hanford Site cleanup.
• Engage with diverse audiences and communicate complex topics in a meaningful way.
• Work collaboratively with the communications team, program staff, and peers from other agencies and organizations.

Requirements

• Experience in community engagement and outreach.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively.
• Knowledge of environmental issues and stakeholder engagement practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, public policy, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in community engagement and outreach.
• Experience with public speaking and facilitation.

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

$51,588.00 - $69,396.00 Annually

Schedule

This position offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with a minimum requirement of 10% remote work, typically a half-day per week or one day every two weeks. However, due to the nature of the work, there may be times when in-person attendance is necessary for meetings, events, and other activities.
