Role And Responsibilities
- Community Educator: Develop relationships with community resources; design curriculum for all ages and abilities related to intimate partner violence (IPV) and family violence.
- Educate the community using various methods such as presentations, pre-recorded webinars, book groups, tabling events, or certification courses.
- Represent New Horizons on various community committees for outreach, client support, and resource sharing.
- Develop training materials and tools on program services and advocacy areas for cross-training and general onboarding.
- Seek out collaborators for education events and grant writing for education initiatives.
- Train and oversee New Horizons volunteers/interns interested in IPV prevention learning services.
- Respond and provide advocacy support to education event attendees who disclose IPV/Family Violence.
- Assist communications team with awareness efforts through sharing information at community education events.
- Manage education event requests from the community.
- Research IPV projects in collaboration with the Weitzman research team.
- Apply for grants for research funding and promote research participation opportunities.
- Maintain relevant knowledge of research and topics in the field.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- Experience in Domestic Violence/Intimate Partner Violence
- Strong Communication and Program Management Skills
- Domestic Violence Certification obtained within 30 days of hire
