COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATOR I

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to educate community members on various health topics and promote healthy behaviors.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Education, Community Health Education, or Health Science.
• Experience: None.
• Note 1: Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree with 18 credit hours in relevant fields and one year of experience in health education projects.
• Note 2: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Educator and Community Health classifications or specialties for the required education.

Desired or Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Diabetes and other chronic diseases
• Experience with public speaking
• Understanding of the social determinant of health
• Familiarity with Somerset County
• Bilingual
