Position Summary

The Community Impact Specialist (CIS) plays a vital role in fostering positive relationships between the credit union and the communities we serve. The CIS will work closely with the Community Impact Manager to coordinate the organization’s efforts to create and deliver valuable financial education and wellness initiatives.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains financial education content for youth, adult, and underserved communities based on the needs of our employees, members, and communities.

  • Captivates content at credit union events, community organization, and on marketing channels and social media platforms for engagement.

  • Develops relationships within the education community to promote financial wellness programs.

  • Schedules financial education opportunities with businesses to align the value of credit union membership with employee benefits.

  • Ensures the credit union's quality and professional reputation is projected and maintained.

  • Supports strategies to establish partnerships with vendors, businesses, and organizations to achieve department goals.

  • Researches and coordinates industry and education-based grant funding opportunities to enhance initiatives.

  • Represents the credit union at community and charitable events, business gatherings, and social events with the objective of developing partnerships, sponsorships, and membership development in the community.

  • Coordinates financial education efforts with Employee Volunteer Program organizations and events.

  • Establishes and maintains ongoing relationships with community partners to continue to expand and grow.

  • Completes financial education activities and records information promptly.

  • Establishes and executes financial education calendar activities for both business development and community relations.

  • Interfaces with Marketing on development and distribution of brochures, promotional materials, and financial education content.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree obtained through a formal 4-year program at an accredited educational facility preferred or equivalent experience.

  • Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years in finance, community impact, business development, or education and training experience in a financial institution preferred. Experience developing and presenting credible financial wellness education to a diverse audience. Experience building and maintaining professional partnerships with community and business leaders.

  • Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.

  • Maintains working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and collaborative tools (Teams and Zoom).

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of organization’s Employee Handbook and policies.

  • Must demonstrate functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.
