About the role

The Community Engagement Supervisor at the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) serves as a key member of the Resident Services team. Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, this position oversees a team of Community Engagement Specialists and Community Aides, providing leadership and support to ensure effective service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise nine (9) Community Engagement Specialists and four (4) Community Aides;
  • Oversee staff’s day-to-day efforts and analyze performance regularly;
  • Provide guidance, encouragement, and tools for staff to excel;
  • Conduct site visits to meet with staff and observe work performance;
  • Support staff in integrating the Cradle-to-Career and Whole Family Approach;
  • Perform administrative duties such as approving timecards and completing performance evaluations.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Assist the Community Engagement Manager with implementing community engagement strategies, programs, and special initiatives;
  • Assist the Community Engagement Manager with partnerships, including facilitating agreements and related paperwork, and partner meetings;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience: At least five (5) years of substantial and demonstrable experience in Social Work, Social Services, Human Services, or a related field; strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cultural humility, and sensitivity;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and exercise good judgment;
  • Knowledge of program development, implementation, and evaluation;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
  • Exceptional leadership skills with coaching abilities.

Pay

Grade 25 - Min: $76,579 / Mid: $102,077 / Max: $127,574 | Salary determined by departmental budget - Offer commensurate with experience.
