Community Engagement Specialist
About the role
The Coastal Programs Section of the Division of Climate, Coastal and Energy serves as the Department’s research, education, and policy lead for coastal and ocean issues. It helps manage Delaware’s federal coastal zone and balances the use and protection of its resources through the integrated efforts of the Delaware Coastal Management Program and Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve.
Responsibilities
- Community engagement, volunteer coordination and communication for the Delaware National Estuarine Research Reserve (DNERR)
- Duties include community outreach and events, developing print materials, social media content, etc. and volunteer program management
- Night and weekend work is required
Essential Functions
- May assist with graphic design of printed brochures and program flyers
- Aid in the development and posting of materials to the Reserve social media sites
- May supervise and manage volunteers
- Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills
- Maintain a positive attitude and have fun

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- One year’s experience in communications, public relations, marketing, customer service or related fields
- One year's experience in supervising groups, staff or volunteers
- Six months experience in narrative report writing
- Knowledge of public speaking or interpretation
- Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving)

Salary: $17.00/hour
