Community Engagement Specialist

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of EB’s community engagement strategy, ensuring alignment with company values and priorities.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with community partners, nonprofit organizations, civic groups, regional coalitions and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent Electric Boat at community meetings, public events, and local initiatives as a visible and reliable company ambassador.
  • Cookordinate and/or work with internal stakeholders on EB’s community programs, including talent acquisition, employee resource groups, HR, corporate communications and the EB leadership team.
  • Manage the company’s charitable contribution budget, ensuring responsible allocation, tracking, compliance, and alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Manage multiple engagements, inquiries, and events simultaneously while maintaining a high level of organization and responsiveness.
  • Identify community needs, emerging issues, and partnership opportunities that strengthen EB’s regional presence.
  • Track metrics, feedback, and outcomes to evaluate engagement activities and guide continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated outreach.
  • Provide guidance and logistical support to employees participating in community activities.
  • Manage the scheduling, planning, and execution of community-facing events and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirements: High school diploma/GED, 2+ years’ experience in community engagement, public affairs, nonprofit coordination, or similar fields, 1+ years' coordinating and managing an events calendar, 1+ years' experience handling budgets, grants, or financial stewardship responsibilities.
  • Preferred Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, community development, or a related field, 4 years’ experience in community engagement, public affairs, nonprofit coordination, or similar fields, equivalent combination of professional experience, training and/or knowledge (6 years), 3+ years' coordinating and managing an events calendar, 3+ years' experience handling budgets, grants, or financial stewardship responsibilities preferred.

  • Knowledge of local and regional community organizations is a plus.
