About The Role

The Community Engagement Specialist supports the Healthy Homes Initiative and the Community Building & Engagement (CB&E) Department by building strong relationships with residents, increasing participation in community programs, and promoting healthy, safe living environments. Reporting directly to the Director of Community Building & Engagement, this position serves as a key connector between residents, community partners, and Famicos Foundation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Congduct outreach to residents and community members to increase awareness of the Healthy Homes Initiative and related services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Educate residents on healthy home practices, safety, and available community resources.
  • Assist with participant intake, enrollment, followup, and service referrals.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support workshops, trainings, neighborhood events, and outreach activities.
  • Represent Famicos Foundation at community meetings, resource fairs, and partner events.
  • Develop and distribute outreach and communication materials to promote programs and services.
  • Support implementation of Community Building & Engagement initiatives and special projects.
  • Maintain accurate records, engagement data, and program documentation.
  • Aid in reporting, grant compliance, and program evaluation activities.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in community outreach, engagement, social services, or a related field.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and populations.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to organize events, manage multiple priorities, and work independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic data management systems.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and neighborhood networks is preferred.
