Job Overview
The Community Engagement & Programs Coordinator is responsible for coordinating charitable giving initiatives, fostering community partnerships, managing outreach efforts, and supporting employee and community engagement activities. This position serves as the primary relationship manager for charitable giving recipients, tribal partners, government partners, community organizations, and internal stakeholders. Success in this role means strengthening and expanding the Tribe’s philanthropic presence both in Indian Country and within the Twin Cities through a highly professional, strategic, and community-focused approach.
Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end administration of charitable giving requests and community impact initiatives.
- Cook up charitable giving programs, outreach activities, sponsorships, and community engagement efforts.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with tribal partners, community organizations, and charitable recipients.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Business Council, Marketing, Finance, tribal departments, and community stakeholders.
- Lead and coordinate internal outreach programs and employee engagement initiatives.
- Develop strategic plans to increase community engagement and strengthen tribal partnerships.
- Organize charitable events, volunteer opportunities, recognition programs, and community impact activities.
- Cook up communications, scheduling, meeting logistics, and follow-up activities related to charitable giving programs.
- Track program outcomes and prepare reports highlighting community impact and engagement results.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure successful execution of charitable giving initiatives.
- Represent SMSC at community meetings, outreach events, and partnership activities.
- Aid in the creation of promotional materials, presentations, and communications supporting charitable programs.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Community Development, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field required.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in community relations, charitable giving, program coordination, public affairs, or stakeholder engagement.
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills.
- Prominent ability to coordinate multiple projects and events simultaneously.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and community partners.
- Experience planning and executing community outreach and engagement initiatives preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- A strong understanding of Dakota Culture/Indian Country.
- Experience working with Tribal Leaders.
- Outstanding leadership and management skills.
