Community Engagement Manager, AWS InCommunities
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to innovation. This role involves working on complex problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, collaborating with diverse teams of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers.
About the role
You will lead AWS Infrastructure's community engagement strategy across Ohio and other Midwestern states, serving as an Issues and Crisis subject matter expert. This role focuses on building relationships with local stakeholders and organizations to create positive impact while supporting AWS's regional growth. You will implement community engagement strategies, represent AWS in local communities, and collaborate on impactful partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the issues expert for the region, lead community assessments for new infrastructure sites, identify potential risks, and develop engagement plans to proactively address community concerns.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders including community leaders and local officials, representing AWS Infrastructure in public meetings and forums.
- Utilize multiple communication channels to promote community initiatives both internally and externally, including handling difficult conversations with community members to achieve productive outcomes.
- Capture and analyze data to demonstrate the quantified and qualified impact of community engagement initiatives, track metrics, and communicate results to internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years of public policy, government relations, community relations, public affairs, or corporate social responsibility experience.
- 8 or more years of experience supporting infrastructure projects.
- 6 or more years of experience in issues management.
- Deep experience in issues and crisis management, strategic thinking, and representing organizations in community settings.
- Ability to write and speak effectively for audiences of varying sizes, think strategically, and work with cross-functional teams.
- Self-awareness, autonomy, and alignment with Amazon Leadership Principles, particularly Think Big, Bias for Action, Earn Trust, and Ownership.
- Comfortable having difficult conversations with community members while achieving productive outcomes.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time throughout the region, with a base location in Columbus, Ohio.

Pay
Base salary range: $143,700 - $194,400 USD annually.
