Community Emergecy Response Team (CERT) Instructor - Professional On Call

Responsibilities

• Maintains updated contact information for active CERT volunteers.
• Instructs the CERT Basic Course and other advanced training courses.
• Coordinates course development.
• Designs and creates publicity materials.
• Staffs various division programs, activities, and emergency preparedness events.
• Maintains inventory of all CERT-related training equipment.
• Coordinates volunteers while activated in the Emergency Operation Center.
• Responds to email and telephone requests for CERT training courses.
• Performs other related work as required.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Successfully completed the online FEMA Independent Study Course IS-317.A: Introduction to Community Emergency Response Team (CERTs).
• Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s license.

Preferences

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Basic Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course completion preferred but required within one year of hire.
• Successfully complete the online FEMA Independent Study Courses IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700 within 30 days of hire.
• Successfully complete the CERT Train-the-Trainer Course, E428 or G 428 within one year of hire.

Pay

Pay Grade: 418 - From $22.96 to $34.44 per hour.

Schedule

• This is an on-call, casual labor position.
• Expected work hours: 20 to 25 per week.
• Requires working evenings and weekends.

Selected candidates will be required to provide employment references and complete a pre-employment drug, physical, and background check. Any offer of employment is contingent on passing the required background screening.
