About the role
We are seeking volunteer Community Educators to deliver Alzheimer's Association education programs to community audiences in the San Francisco Bay Area. This role is ideal for former or current educators, healthcare professionals, administrators, and anyone comfortable speaking in front of groups.
Responsibilities
- Deliver approximately 6 Alzheimer’s Association evidence-based consumer education programs on topics such as warning signs of dementia, caregiver skills, and brain-healthy habits.
- Collaborate with local Alzheimer’s Association staff to identify, secure, and deliver 30- or 60-minute presentation opportunities using Association program materials.
- Connect people with additional Association services and volunteer opportunities by proactively making referrals to Alzheimer’s Association programs and the free 24/7 Helpline.
Requirements
- Demonstrated success with health education using excellent communication, presentation, and adult learning skills.
- Comfort with computers and familiarity with email and PowerPoint presentations.
- Access to a personal computer and internet (preferred).
- Ability to network in the community and collaborate with Alzheimer’s staff and other volunteers.
- Passion for the Alzheimer’s Association mission; personal or professional experience with dementia preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years old. Background checks are required.
Schedule
Most programs are offered during weekdays and daytime hours, but evening and weekend opportunities are also available. Both in-person and virtual opportunities exist.
