About the role

The role of Project Engineer is to work collaboratively and interdependently and as a team member on a wide range of Community Development projects under the guidance of a Project Manager. Our Community Development team also works with and supports projects from other disciplines in the local area and is part of a team that works on projects across the western US.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for the project team responsible for preparing, grading, drainage, wet utility, street improvements, and other civil engineering design documents, as well as hydrology/hydraulic storm water modeling and hydraulic modeling of pipe networks.
  • Prepare and revise documentation for various project phases from feasibility analysis to construction close out.
  • Cook up with geomatics team and obtain appropriate record data required to assemble complete and accurate base information.
  • Prepare concept design alternatives considering site constraints and project objectives to evolve the project layout.
  • Prepare three-dimensional models of civil systems and provide markups / direction for other project team engineers/designers.
  • Coordinate with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Prepare construction quantity estimates and basic opinion of cost analysis.
  • Assist with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications and construction documents.
  • Participate in constructability review.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on projects.
  • Lead effort for processing project documentation to approval and permit availability.
  • Work with team to prioritize workload and schedule on multiple projects.

Requirements

  • Experience with land development projects in location area county markets.
  • Requisite knowledge and application of agency and industry applicable codes.
  • General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
  • Possesses excellent time-management skills.
  • Thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources.
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Mentor and lead other design team members.
  • Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, locally accepted hydrology and hydraulic programs, etc.).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience.
  • Local project resume and experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in directing junior staff in execution of project deliverables is preferred.

Pay

$126,400.00 - $189,600.00 Annually
