About the role
The role of Project Engineer is to work collaboratively and interdependently and as a team member on a wide range of Community Development projects under the guidance of a Project Manager. Our Community Development team also works with and supports projects from other disciplines in the local area and is part of a team that works on projects across the western US.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead for the project team responsible for preparing, grading, drainage, wet utility, street improvements, and other civil engineering design documents, as well as hydrology/hydraulic storm water modeling and hydraulic modeling of pipe networks.
- Prepare and revise documentation for various project phases from feasibility analysis to construction close out.

- Coordinate with geomatics team and obtain appropriate record data required to assemble complete and accurate base information.
- Prepare concept design alternatives considering site constraints and project objectives to evolve the project layout.
- Create three-dimensional models of civil systems and provide markups / direction for other project team engineers/designers.
- Participate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Prepare construction quantity estimates and basic opinion of cost analysis.
- Aid in developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications and construction documents.
- Participate in constructability review.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on projects.
- Lead effort for processing project documentation to approval and permit availability.
- Work with team to prioritize workload and schedule on multiple projects.
Requirements
- Experience with land development projects in location area county markets.
- Requisite knowledge and application of agency and industry applicable codes.
- Strong knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.
- Possesses excellent time-management skills.
- Thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources.
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Mentor and lead other design team members.
- Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, locally accepted hydrology and hydraulic programs, etc.).
- Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Minimum 8 years of experience.
- Local project resume and experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in directing junior staff in execution of project deliverables is preferred.

Pay
$126,400.00 - $189,600.00 Annually
