About the Organization

Founded in 2011, NoStigmas’ mission is to raise awareness and erase the stigmas surrounding suicide and mental illness by sharing stories of hope and inspiration, educating the general public and those affected by mental illness by providing them with information and support. We do this by means of peer-to-peer support programs, awareness campaigns, and wellness events. We envision a world without shame or discrimination related to mental health, suicide, brain disease, behavioral disorders, and addiction with universal access to mental health education, support, and resources creating a world with NoStigmas.

About the Role

NoStigmas is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization where volunteers are the foundation of our community and embody our core values of personal responsibility, community, and advocacy. This part-time, primarily volunteer-run position is integral to our outreach and community efforts to empower individuals to be mental health advocates for themselves, others, and the cause. The Community Coordinator will report to the Executive Director and work with a virtual team.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to community member inquiries
  • Manage and maintain the member experience and brand experience
  • Support members in identifying, designing, and executing their awareness events
  • Guide community members in planning NoStigmas events and experiences, including runs, awareness pop-up events, speaking events, school programming, and corporate events
  • Collaborate with Program Manager to make program adjustments
  • Post member and event activity on social media channels

Requirements

The Community Coordinator will be thoroughly committed to NoStigmas' mission. All candidates should have community outreach and event planning experience, and excellent interpersonal and peer support skills.

  • At least 2 years of outreach and/or event planning experience; track record of effectively organizing and guiding community members
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to strategic planning and creative vision
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Passion, integrity, and inspiration by our mission

Pay

Stipend is $20/hour. We can work with college internship programs.

Schedule

10-15 hours a week.
