Community Canvasser - Planned Parenthood Action Fund (25-27/hr up to 250 in weekly bonuses)

About the role

Help us turn out voters in California to get out the vote and Dump Trump! As you know, access to affordable health care and reproductive rights are under severe threat across the country, and Planned Parenthood Action Fund is leading the charge to protect a woman's right to choose by electing Marni von Wilpert to California's 48th Congressional District. That's why, from now through Election Day, our team is connecting directly with voters on the ground through door-to-door outreach to help elect Marni von Wilpert! This role is a great opportunity to gain experience in the following areas: Leadership, Communication & Advocacy, Community Outreach & Engagement, Campaign Work, Public Policy, and Social Enterprise.

Canvasser Responsibilities

• Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
• Deliver a compelling campaign message, and collect complete survey answers from voters
• Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
• Follow the campaign's safety protocols

Team Leader Responsibilities

• Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
• Deliver a compelling campaign message, and collect complete survey answers from voters
• Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
• Follow the campaign's safety protocols
• Manage a small group of canvassers out in the field by checking in with them periodically throughout the day, and debriefing with them at the end of the day
• Ensure each canvasser has all of the materials they need to be successful
• Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work

Qualifications

• Passionate about progressive politics and fostering democracy
• Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone
• Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible
• Open to new challenges and are interested in building their campaign skills
• Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community
• Prior canvassing experience is preferred, but not required

Compensation & Benefits

• Canvassing positions start at $25/hour
• Team Lead positions start at $27/hour

• Earn up to $1,230 in bonuses: $200 for weekends, $200 for working 6+ shifts a week, $330 for double or extended shifts, plus $500 for five friend referrals

Schedule

• Shifts run from 12PM - 7:45PM Tuesday - Sunday
• Possibility to work part-time or full-time
• Positions run through November 3rd with possibilities for advancement afterwards
• Hiring immediately
