Community Behavior Support Specialist, Behavior Day Services

About the role

Join the BuildAbility team as a Community Behavior Support Specialist, providing support to participants in home or community-based settings. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys assisting others in reaching their goals and prefers working in the community over a desk environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tailored Day Services to participants in home and community-based settings through personalized instruction and activities aligned with their unique needs and goals.
• Collaborate with participants and stakeholders to develop and implement a service plan and schedule.
• Maintain knowledge and understanding of participant goals to ensure effective support strategies, promote growth, and achieve desired outcomes.
• Provide feedback on existing goals and actively contribute to the development of new goals in collaboration with participants and the leadership team.
• Support participants with aspects of daily living, including meals, restroom assistance, and other basic care needs as outlined in the individualized care plan.
• Maintain knowledge of and consistently implement Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), including accurate data collection and documentation in alignment with each plan.
• Document progress notes, behavior tracking logs, and goal implementation data daily in the electronic visit verification system, ensuring accuracy and real-time updates aligned with individual plans.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum 1 year experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Previous experience supporting people with behavioral needs preferred.
• Familiarity with regional center funded services preferred.
• CPR/First Aid Certification required (or must obtain prior to working in program ratio).
• Certification from CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention required (or must obtain prior to working in program ratio).
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and connection with participants, families, and team members across diverse backgrounds.
• Must be able to meet Community Care Licensing requirements to pass a Department of Justice criminal background clearance.
• Valid Driver’s License, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.

Pay

Starting at $20.25 - $24.00/hour (dependent upon prior experience and qualifications).

Schedule

Part-time, with potential for Full-time opportunities. Hours are variable, based on your availability and the participant's availability, ranging from mornings to evenings. Work location is in variable community settings.
