Community-Based Family Therapist

About the role

As a Therapist in the Multisystemic Therapy department, you will provide intensive in-home service to youth aged 12-17 and their families using the evidence-based Multisystemic Therapy (MST) model. This role is critical in addressing complex behavioral challenges and empowering families to create sustainable, positive change. The Therapist works collaboratively with families, community partners, and support systems to reduce risk factors and improve outcomes.

A typical day includes community visits with clients to develop, implement, and monitor goals, crisis intervention as needed, group supervision, and consultation. Using the MST framework, the therapist collaborates with families, schools, and community systems to address the root causes of behavioral issues and foster long-term positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide intensive in-home therapy to youth and families using the MST model
• Develop, implement, and monitor treatment goals during community visits
• Perform crisis intervention as needed
• Participate in group supervision and consultation
• Collaborate with families, schools, and community systems to address behavioral issues
• Maintain a low caseload of 5 cases

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years working with at-risk youth and families, preferably in a home or community-based setting
• Licensed or license-eligible in South Carolina (e.g., LCSW, LMSW, LPC, LMFT) preferred
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
• Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotation
• Must pass a drug screening test and an extensive background check
• Must meet credentialing, licensing, and privileging standards for the department
