About the role
The Community Banker delivers excellent service while processing banking transactions, answering client inquiries, resolving issues, and promoting the bank’s products and services.
Responsibilities
- Process client transactions (deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments) professionally and efficiently, following established policies and procedures.
- Accept payments for various financial transactions and ensure associated tasks are promptly and accurately processed.
- Complete additional transactions including issuing cashier’s checks, certified checks, EE bonds, and money orders; processing stop payment orders, change orders, and items left for collection; handling night drop and mail deposits.
- Balance cash drawer according to established procedures, reporting and collecting teller cash differences and operating losses.
- Maintain security by following procedures, documenting transactions, and completing IRS forms for large currency transactions to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
- Uphold confidentiality, integrity, and safekeeping of sensitive client information, currency, coin, and negotiable instruments.
- Balance cash vault according to established procedures.
- Process requests for foreign currency transactions.
- Identify potential fraud accounts and take appropriate action to prevent loss.
- Support and assist in balancing the ATM machine securely, timely, and accurately.
- Follow all established procedures to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
- Maintain a basic understanding of products and services and refer clients to appropriate individuals.
- Actively promote banking products and services to the community.
- Answer client questions, address concerns, and provide resolutions.
- Quote client deposit rates as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a positive banking experience for all clients.
- Comply with all company or regulatory policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Assist with client outreach and demonstrate support for company culture.
- Foster and preserve a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the company’s mission and vision.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous banking, client service, or related field experience with cash handling.
- Excellent client service skills.
- Ability to prioritize and execute a variety of tasks simultaneously, often in a demanding environment.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication capabilities.
- Proficiency in data entry using banking software and Microsoft 365 products, with high accuracy and attention to detail.
Working Conditions
- Duties performed in a professional office environment.
- Travel to other bank locations may be required.
- Availability to work on Saturdays.
- Overtime may be required.
- Extended periods of standing and ability to lift fifty pounds.
