About the role

The Community Banker II plays a crucial role in acquiring, growing, and retaining commercial, residential, and consumer loans. They also cross-sell the bank’s other business lines through a relational business development plan. Key measurements of success include net new loan and deposit growth, fee income, referrals to other lines of business, and portfolio management.

Responsibilities

  • Sell prospects and customers through relational selling in a trusted advisor role.
  • Establish and negotiate the terms under which commercial credit will be extended, including cost, risk, and profitability.
  • Analyze financial information to determine a customer’s creditworthiness.
  • Present recommendations to loan committees and exhibit a deep understanding of credits presented.
  • Manage the profitability of all commercial relationships within the portfolio.
  • Maintain loan repayment activities, collect past due accounts, and monitor credit and collateral deficiencies.
  • Adhere to loan policies and procedures with complete documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Communicate and negotiate with applicants about the terms under which consumer credit will be extended, including costs, repayment methods, and schedules.
  • Engage actively in the community through involvement in business organizations, community events, and non-profit organizations.
  • Set and achieve challenging goals independently and foster a positive team spirit.
  • Achieve compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, including completing required compliance training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Well-developed interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic accounting, credit, and sales skills.
  • Detail-oriented and proven ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.
  • Effective presentation skills in various settings.
  • Experience in the local market for better understanding of the lending environment and potential customer base.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs and lending computer software.
  • NMLS certification required.

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field, or relevant job experience preferred.
  • Two to four years of lending experience with developed sales skills preferred.
