Community Analyst (Cycle Hire)
We’re hiring for two temporary Community Analysts to provide frontline support for DNC Tech data and tech products through the midterm elections. This role offers strategic support to members of the Democratic data ecosystem including state parties, sister committees, and campaigns. The Community Analysts will report to the Community Director and work closely with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to provide expertise and insights into the user experience.
The DNC Tech Team is fully remote, distributed across 19 states, and values diversity in perspective, lived experience, and career paths. We are committed to breaking the boom-bust cycle of political tech work and building sustainable technology infrastructure for campaigns.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class user support by answering and troubleshooting technical questions from users (down-ballot campaigns, state parties, sister committees) about DNC tools, products, and datasets via Zendesk.
- Participate in a Community on-call rotation to support users and stakeholders outside of business hours, as needed, with increased frequency during even years.
- Partner with the product team on training, communication, and rollout of new features and datasets for our data warehouse and tech products.
- Facilitate virtual training on complex technical concepts and tools for users with varying levels of technical expertise.
- Maintain up-to-date and relevant documentation of DNC tech and data products, including creating new content as necessary.
- Proactively gather user feedback, identify common problems, and share insights with internal teams to drive improvements through automation or iteration.
Skills
- User support: Passion for training, documentation, and 1:1 support, with the ability to tailor communication to diverse audiences and technical expertise levels.
- Resourcefulness & problem-solving: Tenacity in troubleshooting complex data and technical issues with an investigative mindset, using documentation, logs, and previous tickets to find solutions before escalating.
- Organization & prioritization: Highly structured, self-driven, and detail-oriented, with strong task management skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
- Curiosity: Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and view mistakes as opportunities for improvement. Humble and patient in mastering DNC data and tools.
- Relationship management: Ability to build trusting relationships with key stakeholders and users.
- Adaptability: Willingness to pivot quickly in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with urgent deadlines.
Qualifications
- Experience working on a political campaign, at a state party, or in political tech (experience with the voter file is a bonus).
- Experience in an externally-facing role (e.g., user, customer, or volunteer support).
- Experience using VoteBuilder; familiarity with other organizing tools is a plus.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fully remote environment with strong asynchronous communication habits (e.g., over-communicating status updates, asking questions in open channels).
- Basic understanding of SQL or another language efficient for analyzing large datasets.
- Commitment to supporting the Democratic Party and improving the political landscape.
