Community Alliance Intern
Duties and Responsibilities
- Field Outreach & Travel: Represent the Food Allergy Institute and advocate for the food allergy community through regular travel across Los Angeles and Orange County.
- Help identify, connect with, and present to diverse audiences, including educators, early childhood development centers, K-12 schools, PTAs, colleges, medical offices, and community groups, to expand FAI's regional footprint.
- Event Preparation & Swag Management: Assist with the end-to-end logistical preparation for field events. This includes researching, securing, organizing, and distributing promotional swag, brochures, and educational materials to ensure a polished brand presence.
- Community Training & Education: Assist the team in training the community through our EMSA Approved EAI (Epinephrine Auto-Injector) Program. Support the execution of awareness campaigns, school/college staff trainings, anaphylaxis response days, and parent info nights.
- Event Support: Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of in-person and virtual events designed to raise awareness, educate families, and build strong community ties.
- Digital Community Engagement: Support the daily monitoring and engagement of The Pantry Facebook group, helping to foster a safe, supportive online environment for food allergy families.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work alongside the marketing and clinic teams to ensure consistent messaging and seamless event execution across all community touchpoints.
- Reporting & Administration: Assist in tracking event metrics, community meeting outcomes, and partnership developments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma required. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Non-Profit Management, Public Health, Business, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in customer service, campus involvement, volunteering, advocacy, or event coordination is a plus.
- Skills: Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel locally up to 50% of the time. Strong attention to detail, specifically regarding inventory management, event packing, and logistical prep. Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills; comfortable engaging empathetically with parents, educators, campus leaders, medical professionals, and business operators. Familiarity with social media platforms and event management tools. Self-starter mentality with the ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Physical requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to walk between multiple office locations that include the use of stairs (elevator is only available in some instances). This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
