More than 30,000 patients are diagnosed and treated annually by the Veterinary Hospital. Established in 1983, the Veterinary Hospital is one of the highest rated regional academic medical centers in the country, serving communities throughout North Carolina as well as many other states.

The mission of the Veterinary Hospital is three-fold:

  • Compassionate, state-of-the-art specialty healthcare
  • Expert clinical instruction for 4th year veterinary students from the College of Veterinary Medicine
  • Ongoing investigation of innovative techniques and procedures to further advance the field of veterinary medicine

With over seventeen clinical services staffed by board-certified specialists, many of whom are nationally and internationally renowned, the Veterinary Hospital is on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine. Patients benefit from the combined expertise of multiple specialists utilizing a team approach to patient health care.

  • Utilize on-site technology to guide medical decisions, including point-of-care bloodwork, ultrasonography, and digital radiography.
  • Act as a face of the organization in regional underserved areas, building trust with pet owners and providing education on preventative health.
  • Perform intermittent spay/neuter procedures based on the demand of the primary care practice areas using a mobile hospital owned and maintained by the Veterinary Hospital.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
  • Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the state of North Carolina.
  • Strong skills in internal medicine, preventative care, and diagnostic interpretation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a mobile environment and traveling to different regional locations.
  • Compassion and a genuine desire to serve varied communities and improve the lives of pets and their people.
  • Valid NC Driver's License within 30 days of hire.
