Communications Staff Aide (Administrative Aide)
About the role
Works within the office of Fairfax County Dranesville District Supervisor James. N. Bierman, Jr. Staff Aide.
Responsibilities
- Produce weekly events newsletter in coordination with District office staff.
- Manage and grow social media channels, including publishing prepared content on some weekends and evenings.
- Provide constituent services on various issues and serve as the liaison to county departments and state/federal agencies.
- Attend virtual and in-person stakeholder meetings and participate in community engagement events.
- Maintain projects and collaborate with County agencies on District initiatives.
- Aid in drafting of press releases, talking points, and board matters.
Requirements
- Strong written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to use discretion and work independently.
- Basic skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent workplace software.
Qualifications
- Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, public relations, political science, constituent services, event production, or similar line of work.
- Valid driver’s license.
Skills
- Experience working in political settings.
- Experience utilizing Graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop and Canva and Newsletter software such as Constant Contact, GovDelivery, Mailchimp.
