About the role

Works within the office of Fairfax County Dranesville District Supervisor James. N. Bierman, Jr. Staff Aide.

Responsibilities

  • Produce weekly events newsletter in coordination with District office staff.
  • Manage and grow social media channels, including publishing prepared content on some weekends and evenings.
  • Provide constituent services on various issues and serve as the liaison to county departments and state/federal agencies.
  • Attend virtual and in-person stakeholder meetings and participate in community engagement events.
  • Maintain projects and collaborate with County agencies on District initiatives.
  • Aid in drafting of press releases, talking points, and board matters.

Requirements

  • Strong written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use discretion and work independently.
  • Basic skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent workplace software.

Qualifications

  • Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, public relations, political science, constituent services, event production, or similar line of work.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Skills

  • Experience working in political settings.
  • Experience utilizing Graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop and Canva and Newsletter software such as Constant Contact, GovDelivery, Mailchimp.
