About the role
The Communications Specialist will play a key role in developing and implementing communication strategies that enhance public health initiatives and programs. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field, with 2-5 years of experience in public health, nonprofit, or government communications.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain engaging content for various platforms including websites, social media, and newsletters.
- Develop and execute strategic communication plans to support public health campaigns.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
- Design and produce high-quality graphics and multimedia content using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Evaluate and adhere to digital accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA / Section 508).
- Write compelling stories and scripts for various formats including press releases, blog posts, and presentations.
- Monitor and report on communication metrics to assess campaign effectiveness.
- Stay updated with best practices in public health communications and emerging trends in digital media.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (graphic design samples required).
- Familiarity with digital accessibility requirements (WCAG 2.1 AA / Section 508).
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Understanding of cultural competency and sensitivity in public health communications.
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects in a remote work environment.
- A collaborative, innovative, and flexible team member with strong problem-solving skills.

Must currently reside in Tennessee.
