Communications Specialist
Expected pay for this position is $17.00 - $18.89/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an hourly position located in Ottawa, IL, with a schedule of 24 hours per week across 3 shifts: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM, every other weekend, and holiday rotation.
Overview
The Communication Specialist will provide telephone assistance to team members, patients, physicians, and the general public in a timely and professional manner. They will maintain physician call schedules, out-of-hospital personnel lists, administrative call lists, and all miscellaneous lists used to contact people or services needed by hospital personnel. This position will also respond to all emergent calls quickly and efficiently, following outlined protocol to page.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- 1 year of customer service experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail-oriented
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of clerical work experience
- Experience in telephone or switchboard operations
- 1 year of experience in a healthcare-related phone system operation
