This opportunity offers the chance to lead strategic communications for major capital projects in a complex, highly regulated environment. The role focuses on integrated communications, media relations, stakeholder messaging and digital content that support project approvals, public understanding and reputation outcomes. This position will work across project teams, external affairs and engagement functions to translate technical and regulatory information into clear, credible communications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic communications plans, project narratives and message platforms aligned with business priorities
  • Produce clear, concise and compelling communications, including proactive storytelling and reactive response materials
  • Translate complex technical, regulatory and commercial information into audience-appropriate messaging
  • Manage media relations, including spokesperson preparation and media materials
  • Support multi-channel content development, including websites, social media, fact sheets, FAQs, videos, infographics and internal communications
  • Manage content calendars tied to project milestones, regulatory filings, engagement activity and construction phases
  • Handle issues management, public sentiment monitoring, communications measurement and performance reporting
  • Assess complex situations, identify risks and recommend communications responses
  • Collaborate effectively across functions, influence stakeholders and build strong working relationships at multiple levels
  • Prioritise multiple tasks and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in communications, business, public relations, journalism or a related field
  • At least 8 years of communications experience
  • Experience supporting major projects, infrastructure, energy or regulated industries
  • Proven background in external communications, media relations, issues management and strategic messaging
  • Experience developing and implementing communications activities with minimal management oversight
  • Experience working across project teams, technical subject matter experts, legal, regulatory, commercial and leadership stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference for experience supporting major projects, infrastructure, energy or regulated industries
