About the role

Founded in 2019 and backed by venture capital in 2023, the company is led by a team of globally recognized fusion scientists and veteran business leaders. The Communications Specialist will work closely with the Marketing & Communications leader to build and protect the Type One Energy brand.

Responsibilities

  • Write press releases, newsletters, blog posts, social media content, and reports as needed.
  • Craft engaging stories to support strategic priorities and communicate internally and externally.
  • Develop compelling presentations and speeches for internal clients.
  • Support external communications activities across departments and teams.
  • Manage the employee intranet site and other employee communication channels.
  • Coordinate with external designers and vendors to manage multimedia projects.
  • Lead the Employee Communications & Recognition Committee and provide quarterly reports.
  • Provide communications counsel and support to the HR team on strategic communication projects.

Requirements

  • At least 3-5+ years of proven experience in communication, public relations, or journalism with a focus on technical and/or scientific communication.
  • Experience in employee communication a plus.
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills.
  • Strong content creation skills across communication channels.
  • Interpersonal skills and reporting/interviewing skills to gather information from different sources.
  • The ability to understand and communicate on scientific and technical topics.
  • Experience with SharePoint intranet sites and other content management systems.

Qualifications

  • A strong understanding of public relations, corporate communication, employee communication, and digital communication.
  • A keen interest in science, technology, and clean energy.

Skills

  • Familiarity with fusion technologies and the fusion industry is desirable.
  • The ability to understand and communicate effectively on complex scientific and engineering topics is essential.
