Communications Specialist
About the role
You’ll be part of a growing Marketing and Communications team and work closely with departments locally and globally to ensure communications are clear, consistent and aligned with company goals. Role
Role In this role, you will collect, create and distribute helpful, engaging content that supports GN’s business objectives, culture and brand reputation. You will:
- Manage an internal “news bureau” where you will monitor internal and external sources to develop new or adapt existing content for our various audiences
- Support and coordinate Shakopee and US employee communications activities and platforms
- Develop and manage a continuous content calendar across departments and channels, ensuring alignment to strategic content pillars as well as priority campaigns and product launches
- In partnership with the brand marketing team, coordinate communications for GN/ReSound customers (hearing care professionals)
- Review current communication processes and recommend improvements
- Support US, North America and global communication initiatives and campaigns
Essential Functions

Editorial Direction & Planning Curate and prioritize stories and topics that: Keep Employees Informed About Company Initiatives, Offerings And News Support GN Hearing / ReSound strategic goals and understanding of our products, customers, and patients Maintain an integrated editorial calendar that includes internal, customer, patient, and community-focused content
Content Creation & Adaptation Write, edit, and produce content for multiple channels and audiences, including: Internal: intranet, e-newsletters, manager updates, town halls/employee events, executive emails, digital signage, internal social channels External: customer communications, blog and social media posts, press releases, web copy updates, talking points, community updates Create short-form video content using a smartphone and basic accessories (tripod, microphone, lights) Tailor messaging and format so content relevant and helpful for each audience
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Partner with Human Resources, Product R&D, Operations, and other functions to provide a communications perspective on employee initiatives, change management and special projects Collaborate with marketing, sales, training and global audiology teams to identify and share content that supports hearing care professionals and patients Meet with leaders and subject matter experts to identify key messages, gather story ideas and align communication priorities Support other internal groups as needed (e.g., employee resource groups, site committees, community engagement)
Platform and Channel Management Manage and maintain the Shakopee intranet and other internal communication platforms to ensure they are up to date, user friendly and aligned with brand standards Coordinate distribution of content through appropriate channels (email, intranet, presentations, newsletters, social media, etc.) and ensure consistency of tone and messaging
Measurement & Continuous Improvement Monitor engagement with key communications and share insights and recommendations Continually assess and recommend improvements to communication practices, processes, and tools to better reach employees, HCPs, patients, and partners
Global Participation Participate in GN’s global communication networks (e.g., communications and community, employee communications, social media) Support local and regional communication colleagues as needed for U.S. or Canadian audiences
Competencies
(Knowledge and Skills needed for this position.) Editorial management: Experience planning, curating, and scheduling communications on multiple platforms and for varied audiences. Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Content creation & storytelling: Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging content. Experience writing for internal audiences and, ideally, for customer or community-facing channels. Experience with video content creation is essential. Audience awareness & content curiosity: Ability to research, interview, and report on a variety of subjects that benefit employees, customers, and people with hearing loss. Channel and technical proficiency: Experience with SharePoint/intranet systems, email platforms, content management systems, and digital publishing tools. Comfortable learning and improving communication technology platforms. Business acumen: General understanding of business terms and strategies, and the ability to translate them for a wide employee base and other non-technical audiences. Problem solving & advisory skills: Ability to work with teams to identify how communications can support internal and external opportunities or issues, and to propose practical solutions. Strong interpersonal skills: Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across departments and geographies. Comfortable working with senior leaders, sales teams, and external partners.
Qualifications
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field Experience 3-5+ years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, content creation, or a similar role Knowledge of employee engagement and communication best practices Experience creating content for customer or community audiences (e.g., newsletters, web updates, blogs) Experience creating short-form video content a plus

Direct reports: N/A Indirect reports: N/A Working Environment: Hybrid: Combination of office and remote work, 3+ days in office per week. Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, typing, occasional lifting and carrying. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: Standard business hours Monday – Friday. At times, role may require evening, early morning, and weekend work depending on event schedules.

Pay Transparency Notice
Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range from $58,000 to $68,000 /yr. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. Compensation for roles at GN depend on a wide array of factors including but not limited to location, role, skill set, and level of experience. To remain competitive, GN offers a competitive benefits package, including annual bonuses, health insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off and paid holidays.
