Communications Specialist
About the role
Caterpillar has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Specialist. In this role, you will help translate division priorities, technical work and business updates into clear, engaging employee communications that drive understanding, alignment and action. This position partners with leaders and stakeholders to create content, support internal communications plans and strengthen engagement across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Partner with leaders and internal stakeholders to develop communications that connect division priorities, projects and business goals to employees’ day-to-day work.
- Create clear, compelling content for employee communication channels, including written communications, presentations, recognition stories, project updates, and early-win moments.
- Translate technical, engineering and operational information into concise, digestible messaging for audiences of all levels.
- Support leader communications, talking points and meeting materials that improve alignment, visibility and message consistency.
- Act with urgency to manage deadlines, elevate progress and use metrics and feedback to improve engagement and outcomes across channels.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience
- Communication & Influence: Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly across audiences, influence alignment and tailor messages for leaders, employees and cross-functional partners
- Stakeholder Collaboration & Trust Building: Proven ability to build trusted relationships, collaborate with leaders and teams and provide thoughtful guidance on messaging approach, tone and delivery
- Storytelling & Technical Translation: Ability to turn complex engineering, technical and operational content into clear, engaging stories that connect work to strategy, customer impact and business outcomes
- Internal Communications Expertise: Working knowledge of internal communications strategies, channels and best practices, including employee content, campaigns, recognition and engagement communications
- Planning, Organization & Prioritization: Strong planning and organizing skills with the ability to juggle several projects, manage deadlines and structure work effectively
- Execution, Agility & Urgency: Strong tactical execution with a self-starter mindset, agility to move quickly and ability to highlight early wins while progressing work toward high-quality outcomes
- Data Insight & Continuous Improvement: Ability to interpret communication metrics and feedback, assess effectiveness and apply insights to improve messaging, engagement and outcomes
Qualifications
The primary location for this position is Irving, TX. This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day-a-week schedule in the office. Domestic relocation assistance is available for those who qualify. Sponsorship is not available. International and Domestic travel up to 5%.
