Communications Principal, Policy Communications and External Affairs

About the role

The Policy Communications and External Affairs team shapes communications around the most advanced technologies and advocates for policies that enable customer innovation. This role involves leading media relations and communications campaigns to support policy and business objectives across the U.S. You will build and execute strategic communications campaigns, cultivate media relationships, and serve as an on-the-record spokesperson. A dynamic blend of strategic storytelling, media engagement, and cross-functional collaboration awaits, with a focus on emerging technology and policy.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, and oversee end-to-end execution of communications programs
• Manage reputational issues with internal stakeholders and members of the media
• Develop and strengthen relationships with technology, policy, and business journalists
• Work cross-functionally to plan and execute PR campaigns
• Manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges with high judgment and professionalism

Requirements

• 10+ years of recent professional communications or public relations experience
• Bachelor's degree
• Experience developing successful marketing or communications campaigns
• Experience in media relations and issues management
• Prior experience related to AI, infrastructure, energy, technology policy, and/or crisis communications

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
• Experience communicating complex concepts clearly and persuasively to different audiences
