Communications Operator - Switchboard
Description
The salary range for this position at PeaceHealth is $22.07 – $29.71 per hour. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate communications through appropriate operation of one or all of the following: the telephone console (switchboard); physician answering service; overhead paging; two-way radios; and pager system.
- Operate a telephone console (switchboard), directing incoming operator-assisted and outgoing calls to appropriate individuals, departments, and outside contacts; respond to emergency codes; dispatch security; provide information to people in the lobby.
- May also be required to notify by overhead, two-way radio, and beeper system. Extend and respond appropriately to all calls, codes, alarm panels, and disaster plans wherever needed.
- Overhead paging as requested. Extend and respond appropriately to all calls, codes, alarm panels, and disaster plans wherever needed.
- Operate other communication and emergency systems as required.
- Dispatches requests for multiple services as required.
- Dispatches lab, housekeeping, transportation, security, and maintenance personnel via radio and beeper (customer service).
- Aids in after-hours visitor process.
- Initiates call tree during crisis/disaster.
