Communications & Marketing Manager

Core Responsibilities

  • Spend regular time on the Cultural Trail and with Pacers Bikeshare, proactively identifying stories, capturing photo and video content, and documenting the people, places, and moments that bring the organization's mission to life.
  • Own the organization's social media content, including photography, videography, copywriting, publishing, and community management.
  • Lead the organization's email content through Mailchimp, including newsletters, event promotions, and audience segmentation.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement team to develop storytelling that reflects ICT's mission, impact, and future vision.
  • Develop and maintain a library of photography, video, graphics, testimonials, and other storytelling assets.

Digital Communications & Marketing

  • Lead organization-wide marketing strategy to increase awareness, strengthen public perception, and deepen engagement.
  • Develop and manage an integrated communications and editorial calendar across social media, email, web, media relations, and campaigns.
  • Manage the strategy, execution, and performance of paid digital advertising across Meta and other platforms.
  • Serve as primary administrator for the organization's websites, ensuring timely updates, compelling content, strong user experience, and search optimization.
  • Oversee the development of marketing collateral supporting events, public programs, fundraising campaigns, and organizational initiatives.

Media Relations & Visibility

  • Lead efforts to increase visibility of ICTI through media relations, earned media, strategic partnerships, and thought-leadership opportunities.
  • Write and distribute press releases, media materials, speaking points, and external messaging.
  • Proactively identify and pitch story opportunities to the media that elevate the organization's visibility and impact.

Analytics & Administration

  • Establish communications and marketing metrics to track reach, engagement, audience growth, and campaign performance.
  • Prepare regular communications reports that summarize campaign performance, audience trends, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Manage external vendors, photographers, designers, and consultants as needed.
  • Support budget planning and oversight related to communications and marketing initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience leading communications, marketing, storytelling, public relations, or related fields, preferably within a civic or nonprofit organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills across multiple formats and audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Canva, CapCut, Edits, and other visual content creation tools to design polished graphics, presentations, marketing materials, videos, and digital communications.
  • Experience using Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, Hootsuite, Mailchimp and Wordpress.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships across teams, partners, media, and stakeholders.
  • Flexible, collaborative, and solutions-oriented.
  • Experience with fundraising, donor stewardship, and mission-driven communications preferred.
  • Ability to ride a bicycle or willingness to learn. (ICT offers access to adaptive bikes for those who are more comfortable with alternative mobility options.)

Compensation

$50,000-$65,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based but requires regular time spent outside along the Cultural Trail and in the places it connects, including Lugar Plaza, the Downtown Canal, Pacers Bikeshare stations and on Pacers Bikeshare bikes. The typical workweek is Monday-Friday during normal business hours, with occasional evening and weekend responsibilities with advance notice.
