Communications Intern
About the role
The Communications Intern supports both the team and corporate communications functions of the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bandits. This role assists with day‑to‑day communications operations, media monitoring and gameday preparation for the Sabres, while executing weekly and gameday communications needs for the Bandits.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the seasonal PR contact for Buffalo Bandits players, coaches and personnel requests.
- Write, compile and prepare game notes and gameday materials for all Bandits games.
- Oversee all communications department gameday duties during Bandits home games, including credentialing, press‑box operations, post‑game press conferences, etc.
- Occasionally support daily communications efforts for both hockey operations and corporate/business initiatives for the Buffalo Sabres.
- Assist in compiling, preparing and distributing the team’s gameday materials to be distributed by the department.
- Assist in compiling media coverage reports and press clippings.
- Work closely with the team’s media and content department to ensure consistent messaging and content across all web and social channels.
- Assist with the execution of organizational events as needed.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the communications department as needed.
- Maintain strong working relationship with local media members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights/weekends and Sabres/Bandits home games.

Work Environment
This role operates in both an office setting and a live‑events setting. Live event coverage involves exposure to loud stadium noises and crowds. While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, run, reach, kneel, and crouch.
Compensation
This role pays $16.00 an hour. It is a part‑time, temporary position for the 2026‑2027 season and requires flexibility to work extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays.
