About the role
This onsite position in San Diego, CA supports teams performing installations, maintenance, repairs, overhauls, troubleshooting, and testing of electrical, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment and related devices. The candidate will apply technical knowledge to assist junior team members with task completion.
Responsibilities
- Support team members with communication equipment integration or installation of communication systems, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and use of test equipment.
- Install, configure, integrate, troubleshoot, and manage HF, UHF, SATCOM, radio communications suites, and associated network and cryptographic equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting or assessment of electronic equipment.
- Work alongside engineers to design, build, and test solutions to technical problems.
- Analyze operations and offer suggestions for improvement.
- Perform field validations of various watercraft and equipment.
- Perform work between customer sites, shore sites, and/or on ships.
- Travel within CONUS/OCONUS as required.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in a related field and 4+ years of experience, or High School Diploma and 6 years of experience.
- Experience with test equipment including Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Optical analyzers, power meters, bench power supplies, or multimeters.
- Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) services at both CONUS and OCONUS locations.
- Technical experience with AC/DC circuits.
- Experience with HF/VHF/UHF installation/troubleshooting.
- Experience with RF connectors.
- US Citizenship and an active Secret security clearance; must be eligible for a CAC card.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HF/VHF/UHF radio systems, RF test equipment (oscilloscopes, power meters, spectrum analyzers), basic electronic principles, networking equipment, IP networking, and sub-netting.
- Experience with JIRA/Confluence.
- NAVSEA Certified in Fiber Optic Termination.
- Tower Climber Certified.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Work extensive time in stationary positions.
- Climb and descend ladders.
