About the role
Bechtel is seeking a skilled communications leader to join our Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology global business unit. This full-time position is based at a construction job site in Clay, New York. The successful candidate will manage day-to-day communications for staff designing and building a semiconductor facilities megaproject, while serving as a trusted communications advisor for the project’s leadership. This role reports to the Communications Lead for Bechtel M&T and is part of the Corporate Affairs & Marketing function, working closely with project leadership.
Responsibilities
- Creates annual strategy for project communications in close concert with Bechtel M&T Communications Lead and project leadership.
- Manages day-to-day communications for field professional staff and craft professionals, including drafting and publishing senior-leader emails, SharePoint, Viva Engage, and other communication channels and products.
- Works closely with Labor Relations and Construction to plan and execute craft engagement and retention strategies.
- Leads Bechtel’s community engagement activities in and around the project.
- Creates media messaging and analysis, and acts as spokesperson when needed.
- Creates executive-level presentations for project leadership.
- Forges external relationships with a variety of stakeholders for positive project outcomes.
- Manages local team of communications colleagues.
- Identifies and executes tactics that sustain the workforce and enhance the brand.
- Tracks qualitative and quantitative metrics across communications channels as aligned to the strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience, or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
Skills
- Excellent writing skills, including the ability to meet with a variety of stakeholders and rephrase their technical information into easy-to-understand narratives.
- External interpersonal skills within a close team environment with a proven ability to forge meaningful relationships across an enterprise.
- Experience with PowerPoint with an ability to create executive-level presentations.
- Experience in the engineering and/or construction industry is a plus.
- Adaptable and available for some work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions.
Pay
Salary range: $159,700 - $231,000 annually (based on market data; final salary offered is determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant).
