About the role
The Communications Engineering Specialist will support the deployment of communication and control systems across buildings, rail, and other infrastructure projects, focusing on Electronic Security Systems (ESS), including Video Surveillance Systems (VSS) and Access Control Systems (ACS).
Responsibilities
- Develop construction contract drawings and specifications for low-voltage communication and security systems supporting both building and transit facilities.
- Gain knowledge in applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and government standards.
- Aid senior engineers in the development of technical papers, reports, and calculations.
- Prepare proposals, reports, and presentations for key audiences.
- Develop probable construction cost estimates for equipment and installation.
- Conduct VSS camera coverage simulations and system layout evaluations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience with AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation.
- Demonstrated initiative, strong communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organization and planning abilities, including document control and reporting.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative team player.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
