Communications Director

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and execution of the church-wide Communications Plan.
  • Ensure the Foothills Church brand, voice, and messaging remain consistent across all communication channels.
  • Partner with ministry leaders to develop communication strategies and promotional plans for events and initiatives.
  • Maintain communication calendars, timelines, and workflows.
  • Monitor engagement and use analytics to improve communication effectiveness.
  • Lead all church-wide social media strategy, planning, scheduling, and publishing.
  • Develop engaging content including graphics, photos, reels, videos, and sermon highlights.
  • Optimize content for each platform and current trends.
  • Cook up ministry social media efforts and maintain a unified church voice.
  • Retail photography and social media volunteers.
  • Be willing to appear on camera when needed.
  • Write compelling copy for websites, social media, email, print materials, video scripts, and promotional campaigns.
  • Edit and proofread communication pieces for clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Develop messaging and calls-to-action that help people take meaningful next steps.
  • Manage the weekly newsletter and church-wide email communications.
  • Cook up internal communication to help staff and ministries stay informed.
  • Maintain the weekly staff calendar and assist with communication planning for Sunday services.
  • Work alongside the graphic designer, videographer, and online content manager to execute creative projects.
  • Contribute ideas during brainstorming and campaign planning.
  • Support merchandise, advertising, media relations, and other communication initiatives as needed.
  • Lead and oversee communication-related projects.

Qualifications

  • Loves God and is passionate about making disciples.
  • A Partner of FC who is faithfully fulfilling their partnership covenant.
  • Actively engaged in an FC small group.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong copywriting and proofreading abilities.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple projects while strategically planning ahead.
  • Experience with communications, marketing, and social media preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and an understanding of photography, videography, graphic design, and digital marketing preferred.
  • Comfortable using platforms such as Planning Center, Asana, Slack, Mailchimp, Google Workspace, and Meta Business Suite.
  • A positive attitude, servant-hearted, adaptable, and a team player.
