This role supports the execution of the communications strategy for Every Body Texas, helping to amplify the organization’s mission to ensure access to high-quality reproductive healthcare across Texas. The Communications & Digital Content Specialist creates compelling content, manages digital platforms, and supports campaigns that elevate visibility, engagement, and impact. This is a contract position expected to end on March 31, 2027; extension is not guaranteed and depends on organizational needs and funding. This position is not eligible for benefits and requires up to 20% travel.
Responsibilities
- Social Media & Digital Engagement
- Manage all social media accounts, ensuring alignment with organizational messaging and brand standards.
- Develop, write, and schedule posts, including alternative text and accessibility descriptions.
- Create graphics, source/edit images, and maintain a content calendar.
- Use tools such as Hootsuite and Meltwater to optimize post timing and engagement.
- Develop original, platform-specific content (e.g., Instagram takeovers, Twitter chats) to support organizational initiatives.
- Engage with peer organizations and build digital relationships to expand reach.
- Communications Strategy & Project Support
- Serve as a thought partner to the Communications Director on strategy, planning, and messaging.
- Support rapid response communications related to policy developments and emerging issues.
- Assist with communication projects involving staff, sub-recipients, and external partners, including logistics, scheduling, and content review.
- Content Development & Branding
- Create, edit, and manage content for the website, newsletters, and external communications.
- Ensure all materials adhere to brand guidelines and organizational voice.
- Conduct staff interviews and write bios for the website.
- Maintain website accuracy, including updates to job postings, reports, and broken links.
- Campaigns & Fundraising Communications
- Support communications (e.g., social media and email content) for fundraising campaigns, such as Amplify Austin and Giving Tuesday.
- Assist with the creation of print and digital campaign materials.
- Design & Print Production
- Design and develop print and digital communications materials, including brochures, flyers, reports, social media graphics, presentations, newsletters, and branded marketing assets.
- Coordinate with vendors for production of print-ready files.
- Digital Marketing & Analytics
- Support Google Ads strategy and optimization in partnership with the Communications Director.
- Help monitor search engine optimization performance and improve engagement for key initiatives such as the Find a Clinic tool.
- Cross-Platform & Miscellaneous Communications
- Create branded assets across platforms, including learning management systems, dashboards, and internal tools.
- Write, edit, and proofread a variety of communications materials as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in communications, digital media, or marketing (nonprofit experience preferred).
- Strong writing, editing, and content development skills.
- Experience with social media platforms and tools (Hootsuite, Meltwater, Mailchimp preferred).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in nonprofit, public health, or advocacy communications.
- Familiarity with website client management system platforms and basic search engine optimization principles.
- Strong visual design sensibility and attention to detail.
- Ability to respond quickly in high-pressure communications situations.
