The Regulatory Commission of Alaska is recruiting for a Communications Common Carrier Specialist 4 position located in Anchorage!
Responsibilities
- In addition to supervising, scheduling and coordinating the work of the Common Carrier Section, the Communications Common Carrier Specialist (CCCS) 4 conducts detailed technical analysis of telecommunications filings of the highest complexity. The CCCS 4 applies extensive knowledge of economics, accounting, communications technology and engineering, rate development policies, and other telecommunications disciplines to develop, defend, recommend and administer regulations, policies and decisions on telecommunications cases of an unusual or complex nature.
- The CCCS 4 prepares highly detailed, well-supported recommendations to the Commission for presentation both in writing and orally, in public and adjudicatory settings. This position uses database applications to perform research, and word processing/spreadsheet applications to prepare written reports. The CCCS 4 works with utility representatives and other Commission staff to ensure filings are aligned with applicable authority, the Commissioners are well-informed, and Commission rulings are executed within statutory timelines.
Qualifications
- Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in Accountability, Decisiveness, Economics and Accounting, Technical Credibility, and Telecommunications.
- Equivalent to those typically gained by: Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible professional level experience in economics, accounting, finance, engineering, business administration, telecommunications, law, or a closely related field performing research, analytical work, and/or written and oral communications.
- At time of application, applicants are required to submit: Post-secondary transcripts, if using education to meet minimum qualifications. At least two (2) originally and independently authored writing samples. At time of interview, applicants are required to submit: Copies of your three (3) most recent evaluations; and Three (3) professional references who have had supervisory responsibility over you along with their daytime contact phone numbers.
- EDUCATION- If post-secondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications, you must fill in the Education section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of units completed. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position. Transcripts can be attached at the time of application or provided at the time of interview.
