About The Project

The Municipality of Costa Rica, located southeast of San José, seeks a Communications and Marketing Specialist to enhance its marketing and communications efforts. Currently, the Municipality has a press office that distributes information through brochures, billboards, and multi-channel advertisements. However, there are gaps in informing the community about important events like job fairs, cultural activities, and tax collection events, leading to low attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy to improve information dissemination both internally and externally.
  • Create promotional and informational campaigns for municipal programs, events, services, and activities.
  • Design digital content, graphic designs, audiovisuals, and other resources for the municipality’s social media platforms and external channels.
  • Counsel municipal staff on customer service, assertive communication, and managing communication outlets.
  • Contribute to additional projects that align with the community’s interests and priorities, such as English tutoring and youth sports coaching.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or hospitality and tourism.
  • Three years of experience in tourism marketing and/or hospitality planning and project implementation.
  • Spanish language proficiency: completed 4 years of high school Spanish coursework in the past 8 years, completed a college-level Elementary II Spanish semester within the past 6 years, scored between 50-62 on the Spanish CLEP exam within the past 6 years, and achieved Novice-High or Intermediate-Low on the ACTFL OPI in Spanish within the past 6 years.
