Position: Communications and Events Manager, Full-Time, Remote Who We Are The Water Finance Exchange (WFX) is a partnership between federal and state stakeholders, communities, philanthropy, and the financial sector to address the funding shortage of water infrastructure projects for thousands of American communities. A 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, WFX is comprised of a team of water and finance professionals devoted to supporting communities across the U.S. in achieving sustainable water infrastructure solutions, encompassing economic, public health, and environmental needs. Our model is to provide neutral, third-party expertise to develop water solutions for small and underserved communities from the ground up, rather than employing a top-down approach. We work closely with communities at the local level to support sustainable water, wastewater, and stormwater solutions, while providing accessible financing opportunities to get infrastructure projects off the ground. WFX supports the efforts of small, rural, and disadvantaged communities in accessing funding by employing expertise, building trusted relationships with communities, completing projects, and educating communities and water sector experts on innovative solutions for communities in need, including regional initiatives. WFX aims to be a national platform to accelerate the adoption of best practices in the water sector, increase the ability of smaller communities to access financing, and close the water infrastructure equity gap across the country. Launched in 2020, WFX has created a pipeline of community water infrastructure project opportunities and is expanding its efforts to match the new federal and state investments in water infrastructure. As part of its growth, WFX is seeking to add a full-time Communications and Events Coordinator to its core team. Job Summary WFX is seeking a Communications and Events Manager to lead workshop and events management, development of communications and training materials, graphic design, and website and social media management. This position will work directly with WFX’s Advancement Team and report to WFX’s Chief Programs Officer. The Communications and Events Manager is responsible for managing WFX’s workshops and events, serving as the lead logistics and event management role for events in priority states, as well as webinar activities, under the guidance of the Chief Programs Officer. This position is also responsible for drafting communications materials and leading efforts to accelerate WFX’s online presence. The Communications and Events Manager will work closely with programmatic and financial information; projects will involve both independent work and collaborative work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have recently completed a BA or BS degree and will be self-determined, motivated, and enthusiastic about learning and advancing their career. Responsibilities Key responsibilities include the following: · Lead WFX’s workshop activities and events, including in-person events in priority states, partner workshops, and webinars.· Lead the development of WFX communications and resource materials, including content for WFX’s social media platforms and website.· Develop and implement a strategic communications plan, including an intentional communications schedule, evaluation of communication strategies and channels, and position of WFX in the sector.· Oversee the regular updating and management of WFX’s website and social media, leading development of WFX communications and resource materials, supporting WFX’s social media platforms and website content development.· Lead the development of WFX’s graphic design process and materials, including formal reports, case studies, submission documents, and other materials as requested.· In partnership with WFX’s technical assistance team, develop and disseminate training materials for federal grant goals and deliverables. Minimum Requirements An undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree. Proficiency in MS Office Suite.Graphic design and social media management capabilities.Strong writing and editing skills, including the ability to work with long technical reports.Enthusiasm and willingness to learn.Attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.Intellectual flexibility and adaptability for working with a wide range of industries and assignments.Washington, D.C. Metro Area and Texas-based candidates preferred. Preferred Educational background in environmental studies or communications.At least 1-2 years of experience in non-profit management, event management, and/or graphic design.Knowledge of the State Revolving Funds and other water infrastructure funding sources. Remuneration This is a full-time position based that is offered remotely. Salary commensurate with experience.
