About the role
The Communications & Administrative Specialist (Sanford School of Public Policy) supports the World Food Policy Center (WFPC), the Southeast Asia Research Group (SEAREG), and the broader Sanford Communications & Marketing team. This role plays a vital role in advancing communications, marketing, and operational excellence across various public policy initiatives.
Responsibilities
- WFPC Communications and Events (40%)
- Manage the WFPC’s website and events.
- Generate communications summarizing and publicizing the center’s activities to wider audiences.
- Proofread WFPC written products and engage with transcription services.
- Support the planning and execution of WFPC events.
- Sanford administrative support (40%)
- Work directly with the Sanford Communications and Marketing team.
- Schedule meeting rooms, orchestrate Concur, order supplies, manage calendars, update websites, reserve rooms, send timecard reminders, support event logistics, and take notes at staff meetings.
- SEAREG (15%)
- Primary Communications contact for SEAREG.
- Manage SEAREG’s website, update calls for papers, and generate written materials and social media content.
- Track project information and help manage the group’s mailing lists.
- Other Responsibilities (5%)
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Requirements
- Four years of clerical or research experience.
- A bachelor's degree in a field of study directly related to the specific position, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and good writing skills.
- One to two years of professional communications experience, including maintaining websites.
- Familiarity with public policy and food system issues is an asset.
Qualifications
- Four-year degree in communications, graphic design, political science, marketing, or other social sciences.

- Strong administrative and project research responsibilities.
- Office management, communications, and research practices.
- Organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and good writing skills.
