Communication Sciences and Disorders Adjunct Instructor

About the Role

Mount Vernon Nazarene University seeks an adjunct instructor for its Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Program on the Mount Vernon main campus.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the traditional undergraduate CSD program
  • Complete grades in a timely manner
  • Respond to student questions in a timely manner
  • Identify and refer at-risk students to specific academic support services
  • Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus
  • Provide clinical instruction such as but not limited to:
    • Direct supervision of therapy sessions
    • Scheduling and conducting weekly meetings with student clinicians
    • Semester start-up preparation and wrap-up tasks
    • Reviewing and providing feedback on lesson plans and clinical reports

Qualifications

  • Evangelical Christian statement of faith, experience, and mission fit
  • Personal commitment to Jesus Christ
  • Understanding and alignment of the heritage, doctrine, and practices of the Church of the Nazarene
  • Minimum of Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology or Doctorate in Audiology required
  • Active license from the Ohio Board of Speech-language Pathology and Audiology
  • Active Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) or Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience post master’s degree (SLP) or post doctorate degree (AUD); supervisory experience preferred
  • Evidence of scholarly potential and commitment to quality academic instruction within higher education
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Desire to help students succeed in the university setting with strong connectivity to college student needs
