About the Program

Union Home Mortgage’s L.E.A.D. Internship Program provides a fun, interesting, and real-world environment for interns to Learn about the industry, be Educated by Sr. Leadership and their peers, Achieve their personal goals, and Develop their skills and knowledge base. The program offers innovative opportunities including shadowing, mentoring, professional development, group projects, and corporate outings. Interns are treated like full-time Partners, working 40 hours a week during the 3-month summer program, are compensated, and based out of headquarters in Strongsville, Ohio.

The Foundation Intern will assist in the management and administration of the company’s charitable foundation, corporate giving programs, and volunteer events. Interns will gain knowledge and experience in grantmaking, corporate social responsibility programs, event planning, and internal communications.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage logistics for the Intern Day of Service, including community outreach, event planning, and volunteer coordination.
  • Research and organize individual and small group volunteer opportunities for employees in Cleveland and other regions across the United States.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of company events, including the annual gala fundraiser, donation drives, and regional events.
  • Prepare solicitation, thank you, and grant agreement letters for donors and nonprofit partners.
  • Collaborate with the Foundation on on-site visits and research of area nonprofits and corporate social responsibility trends.
  • Assist with social media content planning and creation around community initiatives and internal events in coordination with the Marketing Department’s Social Media team.
  • Write or contribute to written corporate materials such as internal emails, corporate intranet, newsletters, and press releases.

Requirements

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and think independently.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Canva and/or grant processing systems preferred but not required.
  • Compelling writing skills.
  • Event planning skills.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a 2-year or 4-year college degree in Nonprofit Management, Human Resources, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field.
  • Junior or Senior standing.
  • Experience volunteering and a passion for community engagement/charitable giving.
  • Must be enthusiastic, a self-starter, able to work in a group or independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with donations/fundraising preferred.

Pay & Schedule

Interns are compensated and work 40 hours a week during the 3-month summer program.
