Commodity Trading Associate 2027 - Multiple U.S. Locations
About the Role
As an entry-level Commodity Trading Associate at Cargill’s animal nutrition and health business, you will work in a fast-paced environment, tackling real-world challenges while trading agricultural commodities such as grain, oilseeds/oilseed products, feed, and processing by-products. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain customer relationships with country elevators, producers, feed mills, and processors
- Analyze supply and demand, survey market conditions, and other economic forces to maintain and grow Cargill’s market position
- Initiate, negotiate, and agree on terms of commodity purchase/sale contracts, including price, quality, quantity, transportation, timing, and payment
- Coordinate transportation and logistics to execute commodity contracts
- Ensure thorough and accurate follow-up, execution, and closure of all contracts
- Provide timely and effective communication with other Cargill teams such as sales, transportation, logistics, quality assurance, plant personnel, engineers, and accountants
- Make occasional plant and crop survey trips to visit suppliers and internal/external customers
- Complete and collaborate on other projects and assignments as needed
Requirements
- Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited program, graduating between December 2026 and summer 2027
- Geographically flexible and willing to relocate for an associate opportunity anywhere in the U.S., if applicable
- Strong analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
- Collaboration skills and strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to work optimally with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Ability to contribute both as part of a team and individually
Preferred Qualifications
- Successfully completed, currently enrolled, or planning to complete before graduating either a micro or macro introductory college-level economics course
- Previously completed a commodity trading internship

Pay
The expected salary for this position is $74,000. The disclosed salary has not been adjusted for geographic differentials associated with the location where the position may be filled.
Schedule
Majority of the workweek will be in-office, with potential flexibility for hybrid work arrangements. The role may be based in a plant or office setting, and you must be open to working in either environment.
