Job Summary

With more than 2500 global associates, 7 manufacturing sites, 12 corporate offices, and 43 service branches, CPI is seeking a Commodity Manager to join our team in Mt. Prospect, IL.
Responsibilities
Manage the development and implementation of CPI's strategy for plastic components, a critical direct spend category.
Develop and implement sourcing strategies for plastic components, including identifying potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, and evaluating supplier performance.
Analyze market trends, pricing, and cost structures to identify cost-saving opportunities and negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers.
Work closely with other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient supply chain, addressing any supply chain disruptions or issues promptly.
Identify and assess potential risks in the supply chain, including geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors, and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
Ensure that purchased commodities meet quality standards and specifications, collaborating with quality control teams to address any quality issues with suppliers.
Conduct cost-benefit analyses and financial evaluations to support procurement decisions and investments.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including executives, to align procurement strategies with overall business objectives.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the procurement function and implement best practices.
Consider sustainability and corporate social responsibility aspects in sourcing decisions and supplier relationships.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field with 5+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management.
Well demonstrated experience in international supplier management.
Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and project management skills.
Pragmatic and able to make things happen.
Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, and across organizational lines.
Hands-on experience supporting new product development projects, qualifying suppliers, qualifying products/components, verifying suppliers manufacturing readiness, and ramping up volume production.
Demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional global teams in a dynamic work environment.
Engineering background is an advantage.
