Commodity Manager, Technical Operations Repair Orders
About the role
This job is a member of the Supply Chain Team within the Integrated Operations Division. Responsible for working closely with internal American Airlines customers to understand their business needs, and represents the company in negotiations and business transactions with suppliers. This job also involves developing and promoting strategic partnerships with suppliers who support American's material and service requirements for maintenance.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Representing the company in business transactions with internal and external organizations
- Identifying strategies to minimize supplier cost for parts and services
- Assisting with managing supply and services agreements
- Monitoring and tracking supplier performance
- Helping manage and meet departmental goals
- Tracking supplier performance for the commodity
Additional responsibilities for Level 3 include:
- Identifying and implementing opportunities and strategies to minimize supplier cost for parts and services
- Identifying, negotiating, establishing and managing supply and service agreements
- Monitoring, tracking and influencing supplier performance
- Developing and promoting strategic partnerships with suppliers
- Measuring and tracking supplier performance for the commodity; resolving and/or escalating issues in a timely fashion
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and making constructive suggestions for change
Requirements
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Supply Chain Management and 1 year of experience in Supply Chain related fields.

- Understanding and use of technical tools for analysis, problem solving, forecasting and quality improvement

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
